Are you having Microphone issues?
This guide is for Windows users who are having difficulty using their microphone with Echo-Health.ai — especially during post-consult dictation or while using the Smart Dictation tool. These issues may arise due to microphone settings, exclusive device control, or Realtek audio configurations.
🎙 Resolving Microphone & Audio Conflicts for Echo-Health.ai on Windows
Step 1: Check Microphone Permissions
-
Open Settings → Privacy & Security
-
Under “App permissions,” select Microphone
-
Make sure Microphone access is turned on
-
Scroll down and ensure your browser (e.g. Chrome, Edge) is allowed to use the microphone
Echo-Health.ai runs in your browser — if your browser can’t access the mic, neither can we.
Step 2: Disable Exclusive Control in Sound Settings
-
Open Control Panel → Hardware and Sound → Sound
-
Go to the Recording tab
-
Select your microphone → click Properties
-
In the Advanced tab:
-
Uncheck “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”
-
Uncheck “Give exclusive mode applications priority”
-
-
Click Apply → OK
This prevents other programs (like Zoom or Teams) from blocking Echo-Health.ai’s access.
Step 3: Adjust Realtek Audio Console (if installed)
If your device uses Realtek Audio Drivers, follow these steps:
-
Open Realtek Audio Console via the Start Menu
-
Under Speakers and Headphones, disable:
-
Noise Suppression
-
Echo Cancellation
-
-
Restart your browser
Noise suppression features can interfere with voice clarity or transcription accuracy.
Step 4: Try a Different Browser
Echo-Health.ai is tested primarily on Google Chrome. If you're using Edge or Firefox, try switching to Chrome for dictation and audio-related features.
💻 Remote Desktop & Microphone Access
If you're accessing Echo-Health.ai through Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or a virtual desktop, you may need to explicitly forward your local microphone.
If using Windows Remote Desktop:
-
Open the Remote Desktop Connection app
-
Click Show Options → Go to the Local Resources tab
-
Under Remote audio, click Settings...
-
Under Remote audio recording, ensure “Record from this computer” is selected
-
Connect to the remote session
This ensures your local microphone is recognised by the cloud or clinic-hosted environment.
Why This Matters
Dictation accuracy and system responsiveness rely on consistent microphone access. These settings prevent Echo-Health.ai from being “locked out” by other applications or background processes.
